Bastille Day is the famous French national holiday - celebrated on July 14th of each year, including in the village of Durban Corbieres beside this Languedoc villa. In France, it is formally called La Fête Nationale and commonly le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July). The day commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789 and is seen as a symbol of the start of the modern French nation. For those looking at things to do in Languedoc, festivities take place on the morning of 14 July in the towns of Narbonne and Beziers near Villa La Cascade.
